Leadership Opportunities
Leadership Certificate
The Leadership Certificate is a leadership development program open to Indiana University students. This program provides a customizable experience for developing student leadership competencies through leadership education and development, co-curricular involvement, service, and self-reflection. The program culminates with the creation of a final reflection documenting your advancement as a leader.
- Creation of a personalized plan for leadership development.
- Attendance to leadership workshops, events, and opportunities that fall under one of three categories (Comprehensive Leadership Development, Teambuilding and Leadership, and Service and Learning) and the submission of short reflections that aid in translating experience to leadership development.
- Submission of a final reflection.
The program can be completed within one academic year, but students can earn their certificate in any duration of time while they are enrolled at IU.
Students who complete the SIL Leadership Certificate Program will receive a physical certificate as well as a matching Canvas Credential that can be added to a LinkedIn profile or shared on social platforms.
Students can self-enroll in the SIL Leadership Certificate Canvas course at any time using the link below. Full instructions on how to complete the certificate are available on the course page. Enrollment in the Canvas course is non-binding and does not entail a commitment to participate or complete the program. The program is co-curricular and therefore non-credit bearing.
Leadership Compass
At all Leadership Compass workshops, students receive a comprehensive education on key leadership topics, gaining practical skills to excel in roles at IU and beyond. This program connects like-minded individuals who seek meaningful leadership development that sets them apart.
Whether you are a student leader, aspiring to be in a leadership position, or preparing for new opportunities, the Leadership Compass equips you with the tools to succeed and the confidence to articulate the value of your growth.

Bridgework Takeovers
Is your student organization looking for a specific topic to be covered during one of our eight sessions? Suggest a topic by emailing hwienke@iu.edu. A takeover does not make your workshop exclusive to your group but it does make it more customized to your group's needs.
